Heavy snow thwarts runs!

Well it wasn`t a particularly productive week as far as my running goes because I only managed a pathetic 6 miles. This was partly down to the fact that I was fairly busy towards the end of the week which included a fairly heavy drinking session on wednesday after a work meeting at Earls Court. I managed a mile and a half on thursday night and even that was a real struggle.
This week one of our customers reached a real milestone - Reg was 100 years old, this was a milestone for me too because I`ve never met anybody aged 100 before.
I managed to run a mile last night which included quite a steep hill, Ive not done any hill running before but I felt fairly comfortable so I will start to incorporate a few more hills into my training in the future.
I don`t think I`ll be doing any running this week though because of the heavy snow which has been falling in the south east of England in the last few days. I wasn`t able to shift my car today so had to walk about two and a half miles to work at grove park. I`ll be doing the same thing tomorrow and I am hoping to get there without being snowballed.

Murray beaten!

I ran 3.5 miles yesterday in two parts. Firstly in my break I did a 2.5 mile run which I still find tough, but hopefully these will start to get easier in time. Then after work at about 10-30 I did another mile run fairly slowly. I`ve got quite a busy week ahead of me this week but I would somehow like to run a total of ten miles this week, this would maintain my desired schedule of increasing by 10 per cent each week. Ive got a pool match tonight but it would be good if I could get another run in after, lets see how I feel.
Unfortunately Andy Murray was beaten in the Australian Open tennis yesterday, he was beaten in five sets by fernando Verdasco. My bet in the womens singles Dinara Safina is still going, she is playing Jelena Dokic as I write this.

Gym tonight!

I did another run on wednesday night, I only done a mile but it was a very fast mile. I`ve read on other sites and blogs that you should try to run a bit faster on the second half of your run but usually I`ve got nothing left. I`m going to a gym tonight with a friend and the plan is to do 5k on a running machine, I don`t know if I`ll be able to but every now and again you just have to raise the bar.
I went dancing last night and had a very good night, I probably had about fifteen dances and there were some nice girls there aswell.
I`ve had a couple of bets on the Australian open tennis, Ive backed Andy Murray and Dinara Safina to win their respective singles titles. Ive also backed them in a double and fortunately they both won their matches comfortably yesterday.

Failure!!

The plan was to get up at 6-30 and do a 2 mile run, I knew late last night that I wasn`t going to make it. So at 7-30 tonight after I have seen my kids I will do my 2 mile run, definately!
I played a pool match last night in the last 16 of the doubles competition, we won 2-0 and it was fairly comfortable. My partner is a very good player which is a bonus, we are in the quarter finals now so the pressure is mounting.
I received a tip to back a darts player called Darryl Gurney in the first roung at odds of around 6/4, he won by 3 sets to 1 and I made a tidy profit.
Ive just been relaxing at work with the music channel on the tv when this Alecia Dixon video came on -http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg8yqQwiCNQ I was in heaven, the girl is seriously beautiful. But then the cleaner came over and wanted a conversation, by the time we`d finished talking the video was we`ll and truly over.
While I`m thinking about it I quite fancy watching this film - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AIzbwV7on6Q Slumdog millionaire is a film about an 18 year old indian guy who wins the Indian version of who wants to be a millionaire and is getting great reviews, all I need is an attractive partner in crime.

Talking telephone numbers.

I didn`t play too well last night, well to be honest that is an understatement. Me and Gary had our usual thursday 9 hole at Bromley. I started 6,6,5,5,7,7 , it sounds more like a telephone number that a round of golf. My slice had suddenly reappeared to my horror aswell. Gary noticed that I was dropping my arms at the end of my backswing which could have been part of the cause. I will work on this on the range next week. Gary didn`t play very well either shooting 9 over, the only consolation was that the Bulmers we drank at the harvester after went down very well. On a more positive note, Eduardo Romero was only two shots off of the lead in the British Seniors Open and is giving me a good run for my money.

Good night at Orpington!

I went to Hayes ceroc on monday night, it was another of those ok nights when I didn`t really get that involved.
Ive been to the driving range twice this week, on monday I was at Bromley after I finished I started watching the guy on the bay next to me who had a very nice swing. He was using a mirror to check his backswing and I then realised how short my backswing was in comparison. With this in mind I went to the driving range at Sidcup I experimented with a longer backswing with the aim of gaining some extra distance on my shots, it was a bit of a disaster and hopefully it hasn`t messed my head up.
I went to Orpington ceroc last night and it was really good, I danced much more than I have been which is good.
I did another 2 mile run yesterday and it was incredibly hard, it was very hot and I hadn`t had a run for aboutfive days. I wanted to stop after about half a mile but
On the betting front Ive backed Eduard Romero for the British Seniors Open at 14-1 and I think he has got a real chance.

Hold-em or Omaha?

Yesterday I left work with the intension of picking the boys up and taking them to the park or the driving range but unfortunately it was raining quite heavily so with the consent of their mother we postponed it until wednesday. I had intended to go up driving range myself after and then go for a run aswell but had to have a bit of a rethink because of the weather. I decided to have a quick game of poker on the internet which I haven`t done for a while. I found a tournament that was starting soon and with an entry fee of only $10. Unfortunately I had mistakenly entered a pot limit omaha tournament (I usually play texas hold-em), I have watched omaha being played on the television before and it`s similar to hold-em (in omaha you start with four hole cards instead of two) but I wasn`t sure which starting hands to play and which to fold and at one point a friend of mine called me on the phone and I totally misread my hand. I think I ended up finishing 17th out of 36 players which is reasonable for a first attempt. I may have another game at some point this week.
The rain subsided after a couple of hours and I went up the driving range after all. I was swinging really well. I then went to Hayes ceroc and had a pretty good night.

Super sunday.

I had a good day sunday with the boys, we started with the usual McDonalds breakfast (I really need to get them out of that habit) and then we came back home and they played the playstation3 whilst I tidied up. Our neighbour then kindly offered to take the boys to the park with his two boys to play football. After that we drove to my mum and dads for dinner.
In the evening my friend and I popped to the goose for a couple of hours (I had one eye on the Italy - Spain match which Spain won on penalties) before we came back to my house to watch a film called `The killing of John Lennon`, which turned out to be a very good film.
On monday I went to Hayes for ceroc and had a fairly good night, there was some nice people there and a quite a few dances.
Yesterday I got my fingers burned on the tennis, I had £40 on Mahut to beat tursonov at roughly 11/10 but unfortunately tursunov won in 5 sets.

Game on!

I`m playing golf tomorrow with Mick from work, we usually play nine holes of matchplay before work. I think we played six times last year and I`ve yet to win though I was 3up through 3 holes once and still managed to lose. It would help if I could hit the ball further and chip a bit better. Maybe things will be different tomorrow, we`ll see.
I`m going to ceroc tonight at Inn on the Park and will definately dance tonight after last weeks sit out. I haven`t been ceroc for over a week now which is along time away for me.
Also my bet for Euro 2008 - Romania need to beat Holland tonight to guarantee qualifying for the quarter finals, Holland are already through and should play a weakened side so the omens are good.

Lazy sunday.

Sunday was a lazy day for me, I just stayed indoors most of the day watching the tennis(Nadal destoyed Federer in the french open final) and some of the football(Austria v Croatia). I did managed to do another mile run as I did yesterday too.
In the evening my friend and I went to Penge ceroc. I had a pretty good night but didn`t have as many dances as I have had lately partly because I was a bit tired and also because the venue was very hot (they are getting some portable air con units in the next couple of weeks). The music was good as it usually is at Penge.
My tip for euro 2008, Romania drew their first match 0-0 with France yesterday though I`m not so keen on their chances now as they were very defensive in their approach.

Orpington tonight

I worked at deptford yesterday which was pretty mundane. After work I picked the boys up and they came to the driving range with me. Ben was a bit naughty again, I think he struggles with concentration. Funnily enough hes quite a good putter. The boys stayed over last night and we watched Hustle on dvd which they love. I may go Orpington ceroc tonight and hopefly have a better night than monday.
Todays motto is - live every day as if it were your last!

Come on Georgia

I went ceroc last night with my friend at Park Langley and I had a good night. I had quite a few dances by my standards and I don`t think I had a bad one.
Today my friend talked me into backing Georgia for the eurovision song contest at 66-1. The singer was born blind, spent quite a few years in a refugee camp and is singing a song about peace. There must be only one winner!

Lucky day!

Great news! Bury won 2-0 so Ive banked a nice few quid and still had enough left to have £20 on Romania for the European Championships @ 50-1. I didnt go golf with the boys in the end, instead we went to a pub which had a play area and they ran around whilst I had a couple of wkd`s which went down very nicely after the Bury result. Tonight I`m gonna watch the semi-final of the snooker, Perry v Carter. Its 12-12 at the moment and should have an exciting finish.

Day off!

What a relief. Im picking my boys up at 4 and they are staying tonight. We will probably go to the driving range and hit some golf balls. They like that.
Ceroc was ok last night. It wasnt that busy and I was struggling for a dance for the last hour or so.
Bit of a betting coup today, Bury to beat Accrington. Thousands of pounds going on bury so Ive joined in myself hopefully they will win.
